Excuses, Excuses!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week.

Look at my face...atleast I tried to take pics for my followers/lurkers. It's bad when I have to break out my glasses instead of my contacts!
This outfit basically brought to you by Target...it was the best I could do for an outfit post this week...don't judge me:)

The week started off with me getting home and working out*...leaving little time to take pics of my outfits. Truth be told though, my students were taking their state test this week which meant that my job was to stand guard over them like a pitbull to make sure they wouldn't cheat (speaking of cheating, I vividly remember my 5th grade teacher standing over my shoulder giving clues to the answer even though I didn't need them!). That means I didn't go out of my way to be cute at work...and by that I mean that yes I still wore heels...namely the Target wedges by Cythia Vincent (love...I'm wearing them in these pics but I'll do a better  post about them once I've detoxed from Sudafed), but everything else was jeans and a cardigan.

The shoes were still cute enough to get stares from the old battle ax teachers who rocked school spirit shirts with their Lee jeans. I dared not to wear my Nike's with mom jeans for an easy week (You know hell well I don't own any mom jeans!)

Then a few days ago, I got attacked by a random cold virus for no reason at all. I tried to take pics of my outift yesterday morning  but it was a joke. I couldn't breathe and wasn't in the mood. Bla bla bla...yadi yadi ya...the whole point is there was a reason for no posting this week. All in all, I would say that this week was crap but I'm above the ground instead of under...so I'll take that.

*(You know how I like to laugh at people who can't dance in my Zumba class? Well, I must be fair and admit that Monday...I sucked. I made the mistake of walking the 25 minutes to the gym to be all extra motivated. I didn't account for the fact that it was hot outside and might affect my work out. I made it to the zumba class and conked out. I was two salsa steps from passing out. My buddy Ro (whom I met through blogging but found out we belong to the same gym) had to drive me home after the class because I refused to walk back!! I guess it serves me right for laughing at people who are rhythmically challenged...lesson learned:)

Oh, By the way...I have a new theme song. If  you are driving and see a girl with an afro puff dancing violently in her car, assume two things...1)I'm feeling better and 2) This song is playing on the radio:)

( Disclaimer: I do not endorse strippers, drugs (well maybe Sudafed), bling, video vixens...hell really anything in the lyrics. I just like to shake it to this song and we like anthems here in the south. Even the best Christians have an anthem lol! Okay.........I DO endorse the video vixens but that's it:)

P.S..."Writing Without Periods"...please pay attention to the lyrics around the 3:14 mark in this song...written especially for you!

What do you take to get over a cold?

By the way, I know that I am not hot in this outfit or pics... I just hate a post without pics:)

A Graham Cracker Just Saved My Life

I am not kiddng when I tell you that a graham cracker just saved my life. A few weeks ago, I made a conscious decision to be healthier. It's not something I plan to blog about often, if at all because if I  fail, then you will know me as a loser. I AM NO ONE'S LOSER HONEY! So there will be no talk of pounds and all that mumbo jumbo. Trust me, you will know if I hit my goal though...because there will be alot of posts of my shoes with me wearing NO CLOTHES. (I'm not joking...okay, I am...but only a little:)

Anyway..........the point is that I have been eating moderately and doing all of the right stuff. More water, less junk...way more excercise. Well, I have this relationship with cookies. If you've been reading my blog for a while...you know that I have been dating The Double Stuffed Golden Oreos since I discovered them last year. It's a toxic relationship really. Every time I break up with them, they go on sale and then I make up with them again.

So, self control with cookies doesn't work for me. I am by no means depriving myself but I know my limits and I have no limit when it comes to cookies. They simply CAN'T BE NEAR ME. So, yesterday I decided that I needed something "cookie-ish". Soooo...I decided to take the lesser of evils and eat a cinnamon graham cracker!  OMG! Here are just a few things that happened when I bit into it.

1. The room got brighter.
2. I broke into the River Dance
3. I heard birds singing in the trees of Sierra Leone.
4.  My IQ rose about ten points.
5.  I had an overwhelming desire to run a 30K marathon!
(I'm wearing a dress from the Lloyds of London line for Target. I should have worn my favorite belt with it. Instead I wore a gold thrifted belt. Target is really doing great things these days:)

I say all that to say that the graham cracker was good:)

This isn't the first time something like this has happened to me. A few years ago, I lost my mind and tried to do the Dr. Ian diet (FatSmash Diet). I went for days without any breads or sugars. I ordered a salad and forgot to "hold" the croutons...let's just say the crouton saved my life that day!

By the way, this is what the Target model looks like in the dress:)
And here are the sandals, I'm wearing. I've had these since last summer. I'm not sure why they aren't cheaper now:)

Oh...Thank you to Gi Gi from Gi Gi Goes Shopping for my interview/feature. You make me sound way cooler than I really am:

Assumptions

Here's a "twofer". I wore this to work a few days ago...I was just too tired to post it. Lately, I can't seem to come home to take pictures of my outfits because I'm dying to get out of them. Plus, I've been working out lately and I have to run home and get ready for Zumba classes and such.
By the way...click here...someone actually thinks I'm cool:)

(ummm...I'm noticing that my romp looks BADAMN! in these skirts)
I wore this a few weeks ago. Really, I just wanted to show you pictures of the shoes. They make me happy.
Back to Zumba, let me start by saying that I am no Justin Timberlake or Usher but I think I can dance pretty well. Well enough atleast. I even pride myself on knowing how to zydeco (don't worry if you have no idea what that is), and salsa. My point is everytime I show up for Zumba class, I always leave feeling like I have no rhythm. I think it's because I'm usually disoriented by the middle of class and am pretty close to losing consciousness...because I'm out of shape.

I'm working on that but there was this chick in class...OH MY GOD! I swear to you that she single handedly managed to distract me because she was the classic description of a soccer mom but she was DROPPING IT DOWN LOW. I mean DROPPING IT!. It was funny because she couldn't dance yet that didn't stop her. I swear it looked like she was doing the River Dance...ON ACID but she didn't care. I couldn't stop laughing!

I know I am wrong. I'll say it again...I AM WRONG! But it was hilarious. Granted, I was the one who had to step outside to get resuscitated atleast twice but this woman was going for it. When the class was over, we happened to walk out to the parking lot together. River Dance Soccer Mom Chick got into a Maserati..I walked home.

yep...the joke's on me:(
But I can still dance better than her...just not for an hour straight...to fast music...with weights in my hands.
(sticking my tongue out)

I Love Gifts!

(One of my all time favorite dresses...Zachary Smile dress from Anthropologie. And yes, the belt is back. I can't stop wearing it with everything!)
I won my first blog give away from my Bloggy Godmother Mish from Mish DISH! It was a goodie bag from the Aspen Fashion Show. All kinds of stuff in it...moisturizers, gift certificates, makeup...good stuff! But MISH threw in a treat for me! A necklace from her own personal Jewelry Line!!!!
I love this necklace so much! It's perfect! I can loop it for it days! Thank you Bloggy Godmother (I totally forced that title upon her!) Now let's work on getting the rest of your wardrobe to me!!
By the way...this dress has history on this blog. There was a whole lot of chaos and confusion from the designers about me and this dress. It's a must read! Click here for the first post that resulted in the designers of the dress contacting me...click here for the follow up:)

...and seriously Mish...I love the necklace...and I love my little personal note you sent me! I'm saving it:)

Pesky Strangers

(I've had that little clutch purse for so many years, I have no idea where I got it)
I'm not going to lie...I kinda felt cute in this today. I love this top with all thine heart and all thine soul. Especially the ruffled details in the back. Also, note that I am not wearing one stitch of black today. That's rare yet totally unintentional.

(I feel like I'm on the verge of finally breaking these shoes in. Just a few more wears and I will have conquered the pain)

I look like I really am going somewhere, don't I? Ummm...yeah, I went home and ate a huge bowl of Chex Cereal and watched Parenthood (That' my new favorite show)

You've got to be rolling your eyes at all these pictures! LOL...I am! I would like to state for the record that bloggers who take pictures of themselves with a tripod and set timer, in front of total strangers deserve some type of award. I'm just saying:)

I was driving and saw this little park with very few people in it. in  There were a few dog walkers and a few old ladies speed walking in their inclined flip flops sneakers. I had a few people look at me crazy but I decided to flip the script and look at them crazy. Instead of being embarrassed (which I was), whenever a dog walker passed by looking befuddled...I just kind of looked back at them as if THEY  were the ones in violation! The nerve of THEM to walk in a park where supermodels  teachers posing as bloggers  take pictures of their shoes in a public park! Ugh... regular people amuse me (lol)
For those of you who didn't catch it, I gigged over at the Shop It To Me website. Check it out:)

If a crystal ball would tell you the TRUTH about any ONE thing you wished to know concerning yourself, life, the future, or anything else, what would you want to know?

Grrrrr!!

(not the best picture but whatever... it was the end of the day and I was doing good even forcing a smile)

Are you wondering where I am in the above picture? Yep...I'm at work. This is me waiting for the bell to ring. Notice that I'm by the door and my students are not...that's because I race them out of the door. I suckered one of them into taking a picture before the class was over.

Sorry for the poor picture quality...my "real" camera is in rehab right now.

I'm thinking I need to lay off the animal prints....just a little??
I had no idea that I had an obsession with animal prints til now...even my poor dog Frankie Beverly has to sufffer.

Guess what! I am the Guest Blogger of the Day over at Shop It To Me. Click here to read what I have to say about people who follow rules when they are getting dressed...

You know how I feel about rules! Trust me, it's worth reading:)

For Just $6 a Day, You Can Save a Child...

Okay...the title of this post is a little deceiving. You can't save a child with 6 bucks but you most certainly can find a devine vintage kimono jacket that will feed your inner Diva!
Here's another find from my trip to Austin a few weeks ago. This vintage kimono jacket was a whole 6 bucks! It's a size too big so I just criss crossed the front and put on my favorite vintage belt of all time! That belt works everytime!

Yesterday, I took a walk with a friend (I'm trying to excercise more) and somehow we started talking about shoes...of course. I told her that I only got into shoes maybe in the last ten years. It was never something that I focused on when I was younger. I shared with her that for my entire middle school and high school years, I never wore sandals because I have ugly feet. I was very self conscious about them.
As I got older, and started living life, I decided to be grateful that I even have feet! I just got to the point where I realized someone, somewhere in the world would kill to have my ugly feet because they didn't have FEET AT ALL! Then, I took the attitude that if I'm gonna expose my "ugly" feet...I might as well dress them up in fabulous shoes! So, that my friends is the reason I love a really pretty shoe!
Plus, my great grandfather always said that if somone doesn't like my feet....KICK THEM IN THE EYE! And really my feet aren't ugly...they are just MINE! LOL

Did you once hate something about your physical appearance but now embrace it?
I wore the skirt to work but wanted to wear jeans. It's the perfect Spring item. Lightweight, well structured and classic. I'm thinking you'll see alot of this kimono around these parts!

Toodles! Have a great weekend!
