Polyester, Sugar and Church...OH MY!

Is there an outfit that you wear that personifies who you are as a person? I'm thinking this is that outfit for me. I felt very much ME while wearing this to church and to the movies.

I think it's the skirt. Who says you can't have a little drama in your everyday life. The train on this trumpet shaped skirt does it for me. It makes me feel like I am really going somewhere which in most cases...I am not.

I do have to share one secret...this skirt is HOT AS HELL! It's vintage which means polyester is involved. At random points of the day, I caught myself hiking the skirt up to my knees to give my legs some air! Thank goodness I sat in the back of the church!

Again, I ask...how is it that Polyester became the premier fabric of the 70's!?! How did my mom do it? I have to space my polyester days out or my "sugar" will start to run high. (I don't know what "sugar" has to do with polyester but just go with it.)

P.S...I just High fived myself for using the word "sugar" in this post. BWAHAA!

It rained like crazy this weekend. Rain + Afro= Wearing a Cap/Hat

Here's just a quick weekend post. I rarely wear shorts...and by rarely I mean never. But for some reason, I've decided it's okay. I absolutely loathe the feeling of shorts "riding up" on me. It drives me crazy but these are actually comfy to wear.
I am not one of those "runway" watchers but I must say that I've stumbled across a few of the Ralph Lauren Spring shots and immediately fell in love. I'm really into menswear and this is done oh so right. It kind of has that "I'm a farmer during the Dust Bowl era and the only thing I have to wear are my husband's clothes" kind of look. My ensemble today was directly inspired by the Ralph Lauren "look". I already have a few more "inspired" outfits in mind:)
By the way, I was a having a discussion about my style today and I couldn't come up with an official title for my style. Scroll down this page and take a look at some of my pics. How would you describe my style?

99 Red Balloons

This post really has nothing to do with balloons but it is my 99th post which makes me think of one of my favorite songs from my childhood. Remember 99 Red (Luft) Balloons by Nena? I used to love that song. I think I was in elementary school when that came out.

I just wanted to show you my "thrifted trenches."
The above pics are of my London Fog thrifted trench for 10 bucks. I got this trench months ago and took these pics a few weeks ago...just now getting around to posting them out of sheer boredom while fighting against being in a funk.

I thrifted this Vintage Burberry Trench a few months back also...Ten whole dollars:) I am one thousand perecent positive that I didn't tie this correctly. It had too many contraptions and I am one of little patience.

Short post... I know.

Great Song.

VIVA LA CRACKHEADS

Ummm...I SO did NOT wear my shirt THAT open to work in the picture below. Matter of fact, I actually wore the shirt untucked with the belt over the shirt. The cool happening chick would have worn this to happy hour somewhere but I am SO NOT that chick. Instead, I ran from a crackhead then went home to eat a sandwich. That was much more fun anyway.

I am constantly trying to find new locations to "shoot" around my neighborhood, so I decided to take my 'act' to a busy street. As I am setting up the my shot, I see a crackhead turning the corner. He's a resident crackhead, so it's kind of like we are neighbors. I'm pretty territorial about my neighborhood pharmacist recipients but one never can tell what mood they may be in on that day. Well, he turns the corner and sees my camera and then looks at me. Right at that moment, I was making a decision on whether to take off running or to play it cool. Then the flash went off...the result is the picture above! LOL. I was so about to test the speed on these $4 thrifted leather boots!

*** You know, I am totally embracing my cute shape. Sometimes, we get so obsessed with looking like somebody/something else that we overlook the good things about ourselves. Plus, I know some NOT SO HOT BOOGA WOLVES around these parts that SHOULD be hiding and then I smile at myself and say "GOD, Job Well Done Homie"***

** This admission is NOT an excuse to stuff more Double Stuffed Golden Oreos in my mouth**

One Step Closer to Oprah!

I know I said I was going on a"blogcation" this week but I have to share that I am getting featured...AGAIN!

Moni over at Creative Liberation is featuring my little ole' blog in the first of her Monday series on her favorite blog authors! How cool is that? How cool is she? How cool am I!?!

She doesn't know it, but when I finally make it to Oprah (click here for that plan)...she will be one of the secret surprise guests that Oprah will bring out so that I can give her a thank you hug for helping me BLOW UP! (going too far again?)

If for no other reason, check out her blog for seriously old school videos and clips. The following clip I stole from her blog because it seriously put a smile on my face. You MUSTwatch it. Even if you have to watch it without sound:) I don't know what to focus on, the clothes, the dancing, the men dancing like Leroy from Fame, the MJ song they are dancing to that I've never heard in my life...it's too much!
