Tune In!

I very rarely say this but TUNE IN to BET Today at 5pm!
(Don't get me started on TV programming)
For an excellent reason!
Remember, Leelonn...my client?
I was the wardrobe stylist for his first video.
He lets me pick out his clothes whenever I want to.
He sang at my wedding.
Yeah, THAT LEELONN!

He is a contestant on Wild Out Wednesdays on 106 & Park.
TODAY!!
He is probably on his way to the BET studios as I type!
Tune in!
Check your listings and most importantly VOTE!
He deserves it!
He is so talented and motivates me more whenever I get anxious about my career.
He trusted me to style his video just on faith, even when I told him that I was inexperienced.
He still encouraged me.
Most importantly, he is a pure, gentle spirit.

Watch. Enjoy. VOTE!
(You can text your vote or download the BET 106 & Park App/vote online)

(If you're in Houston, I will see you at his Watch Party at Avant Garden!)
P.S...if you're from Houston, then you probably know that today, June 27th, is an "unofficial Houston holiday" and why this is the perfect day for him to perform.

Here is his video if you don't remember:)

What I Wore To The Video Release Party for "Maybe"

This is what I wore to Lee-Lonn's Video Release party!
I wanted the Boxing Kitten Look...
I heart that whole ethnic/mixing of prints aesthetic.

It would've been nice if my photographer would've noticed the exposed tag.
He's going back into "better take my pictures and let me know if I have tags hanging out of my clothes" husband training class.

This is what I wore to Lee-Lonn's "Maybe" Video Release Party.
You remember once upon a time that top used to be a dress.
You know I'm always up to tricks.
I decided it would serve me best a top and I was right...again! LOL
And yes, the infamous favorite Target skirt made it's appearance.
You didn't think I stopped wearing it, did you?
How foolish of you!

Borrowed vintage handbag from my mother-in-law
Pour La Victoire Irina heels
Vintage Sunglasses
Aldo Accessories Earrings

(Yolanda Green/owner of Xpozher Accessories and Home...also the mother of Lee-Lonn; Video Director Danny Ocean of Evesborough Films)

I was so anxious to see the video after so many months of waiting and it was worth it.

Of course I had to get a photo with the star of the video!

And if you missed it...here is the video. I served as the wardrobe stylist for the video:)

GFS Styles Day 2: Lee-Lonn's "Maybe" Video Shoot

(Ashley and Lee-Lonn at work)

When Lee-Lonn had discussions about the treatment for his video, I asked him how he wanted his "girl" to look in the video.
He didn't hesitate. "I want her classy but I don't mind short shorts with the pockets hanging."

And this is what I came up with.
I threw together a boy's shirt, a vintage Gucci belt from my closet and accessories by Yolanda Green of Xpozher Home and Accessories. (Who just so happens to be his mother)

The guys looking at the playbacks.

It was a long day and by the end of the day I was spent but that didn't stop us from clowning around when the shoot wrapped!

Don't judge me...I was in work mode!

Me, Ashley, Lee-Lonn and make-up artist Danielle.

JOB WELL DONE!

I am so geeked and grateful for Lee-Lonn's trust in me!
Support Team LeeLonn!

The final product...

GFS Styles Day 1: Maybe by LeeLonn Video Shoot

At this point, you atleast know his name because I tweet about him and periodically post about Lee-Lonn.
He is a sensational artist and I just happen to know him personally.
Roughly 2 months ago, he asked me to be the stylist for his first video and it couldn't have come at a better time.
I think the day before, I'd just receive the news that I was being layed off from my job.

I was in charge of super sweet video model Ashley's look as well as Lee-Lonn's look.
Toni of Scott Phree Online Boutique allowed us to pull from her inventory! Toni, former stylist to the stars, was so accomodating and gracious and gave me free reign on what we could use!

Here are a few studio shots I took with my camera.

We decided on this embellished dress for Ashley and she rocked it!

With the help of make-up artist, Danielle...we came up with this look for Ashley.
LOVE!

(LeeLonn wore a custom vest and Urban Outfitters khakis)
I die for LeeLonn.
He is such  an artist.
But even better...he's an INCREDIBLE human being!
He lets me boss him around...stylishly speaking of course!

And here's the final product!!!!!!!!

It's Almost Here!

(I'm taking a slight break from wedding pics/posts to tell you about something HUGE)

Do you remember earlier this summer, I kept saying that I was working on a project?
 An Epic project!
Now I can finally say it!
I was the wardrobe stylist for singer Lee-Lonn's first video "Maybe!"
(P.S...he sang this song at my wedding too:)

(Video Model: Ashley)

I was in charge of the looks for the video model and Lee-Lonn!

It was a two day shoot and I had the most fun EVER.
EVER!
EVER!
The video release party is next week and I can't wait to see the finished product!
If you are in Houston, drop by the video release party and say HI! I will be there!
As soon as I get a link of the video, I will post it!

Here is my favorite performance shot:)

Telepathy

I wish you could read minds.
If you only knew what I was thinking today.
If you have my phone number, call me.
I'll tell you.
But be prepared for the truth...uncensored.
That is all.

GFS Hits The Streets: XPOZHER

It seems like I am really busy these days, huh?
Not really.

(Vintage Dress worn as Vest, Target tank/skirt,LAMB Heels, Mother In Law's Train Case)

I would probably be at home watching reruns of Bethanny Ever After on Bravo if there wasn't a real reason for me to leave the house.
(P.S...Bethanny is funny and psycho all at the same time)

Key from Don't Mess With Texas Style and I have been trying to meet for a while but kept missing each other at Houston meetups.  We decided to make that a thing of the past.

Key has featured GFS  on her blog a few times and it was kind of ridiculous for us to be in Houston and never have met.

Key and her fabulous sister met me at XPOZHER Accessories and Home Goods  to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of the shop. It was the perfect place to meet, chat, mingle and shop!
We chatted about everything under the sun. I don't think people realize that they can sow seeds of empowerment just by kind words. Key did that for me.

(Key shopping)

Her sister freaked me out because she says that she reads my blog all of the time and I'm always genuinely amazed when someone says that:)

I met these chicks as strangers and somehow I walked away with hair products and a fabulous top from their car. That's southern hospitality at its finest!
(More on the top in a few weeks)

Xpozher is the brain child of Houston's own Yolanda Green. I can't say enough about Ms. Yolanda. This lady is a busy bee but knows how to throw a party! The first time I met her, I witnessed her literally greet her customers with a "CHEST BUMP FOR JESUS!"
Awesome in every sense of the word!

I didn't quite walk out of the shop empty handed. I managed to outwit another customer from getting this beautifully made cross necklace! SCORE!

If it's not enough for Yolanda to run a fabulous accessories shop but her son just happens to be talented.

If you follow me on twitter then you know Lee-Lonn. I tweet about him all of the time.
I get the pleasure of hearing him sing at work but it's only a matter of time before everyone knows his name. We talk alot about making our passions/creativity our primary source of income.

Look him up on ITUNES not only for his beautiful voice but because he is always asking me for random things like hot sauce or tartar sauce at work. He brings apple sauce and broccoli for lunch! Who does that!?!
We need to feed him!

I'm actually going to finally catch one of his live shows tonight!

Enjoy Lee-Lonn's video while I go frolic!

This song makes me giggle.
