Have You Found Your Voice?

I've been meaning to try this whole "maxi-skirt in the winter" look. I like it. Alot.
A few bloggers who have already fabulously rocked this look!

Sequin Beanie/hat from Target

I was putting together a lesson for my class and came across some questions that stopped me dead in my tracks. I thought you would benefit from those questions.

Have you found your voice yet? This is how you start. Answer the following questions...

1. What are you really good at? (talent)
2. What do you love doing? (passion)
3. What does the world need that you can get paid to do? (need)
4. What do you feel you should do? (conscience)

Got you thinking too? Let me know the answers in the comments:)

Happy MLK DAY!

GFS the Muse

(I'm pretty sure Mary J truly inspired the jacket but I'm gonna take full ownership because this is my blog:)

Apparently, I inspire people. I like the way that sounds. I needed to know that right about now because real life has been kicking my butt lately. The creator of Coy Misconception contacted me and said that my take on Mary J. Blige's "Army in the Jungle" look (I just made that up right now) inspired her to rework a military jacket and it's now for sale:)

I looked up the word muse and I ignored all of the meanings except the following:

MUSE- a guiding spirit or source of inspiration (Example: Reiko, GFS)

First the jacket...then the world! *laughs like Skeletor from He-Man and shakes fist above  head*

Thanks Kee!...can  you talk to the people in my inner circle and let them know I'm an inspiration. They didn't get the memo:)

*kicks the mic like Kanye West*

Me

Okay, this is not really me but it is soooo me! This outfit is everything that I stand for! Pretty and over the the top vintage blouse, cuffed jeans, clutch and nude sandals! When I saw this look, I stared it for a minute (or hour).  I try not to jack other bloggers pictures but I had to with this one.

There are two reasons I am posting pics of Karla from Karla's Closet...I absolutely love her style and I haven't been anywhere to warrant getting dressed the last few days! LAZY! It's so hot in Houston...I just can't deal with going outdoors unless it is absolutely necessary.

By the way...I've picked up quite a few followers as of late. welcome and HI!!

I promise to share more of my shenanigans and foolishness before this week is out...maybe even today.

I've been thinking about doing a little video to say hello but I think my slight southern drawl and slight valley girl twang might conflict you guys:) And then I thought, what the heck would I talk about anyway?!?

I promise to get unlazy and do a real post this week. Promise.

Do It My Darn Self!

It's Monday and I'm ready for Friday already. This will be short and sweet because it's naptime. I saw a picture of Janet Jackson at last week's Fashion Week festivities and loved the look to death. I knew immediately that I could throw that look together. For a second, I did say to myself that even I would have have shown a little more "cleavage" than Ms. Nasty but I get it...she was going for the school librarian look. The look also put me in the mind of Michele Obama.

So here is my version of the Sexy Librarian/Teacher look. We will call this segment D.I.M...NOT...D.I.Y...because I DID IT MYSELF!

Cardigan: Target
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shirt: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: 9 West
Bag: In Philly visiting my cousin Messa 5 yrs ago

The challenge is still going on...just thought would share my D.I.M with you:)

Dear Bridesmaids,

Dear Bridesmaids,

I know you have been worried that I will put you in pink tafetta or puffy sleeves or a long gown. Please put your minds at ease. I pray that you know that I want you to be sexy and comfortable for my wedding. Does this mean you will have a free for all? Not exactly. Will you get to wear something that makes you feel pretty? Absolutely!

I envision a chic black cocktail dress vibe and my utmost concern is that you are able to wear your dress again and again. Trust me, I have 4 bridesmaids dresses in my closet that have never been worn again and it burns me up to know that I was willing to purchase a royal blue gown at the age of 20 when I know that I would never have a chance to wear it again.

So with that said, God and I have come to an agreement to allow you the freedom to choose your dress with the following inspiration board in mind. Should you purchase before emailing a picture first? Of course not, but if it's black, sexy, fitted and chic, chances are I will say yes.

I have no intentions of making you looking like evil stepsisters. I don't even want you to all wear the same exact dress. That can't be fun. As long as I have final say, the dress is black and the shoes are red, I say go for it! You all know that I must have a pop of color in everything I do. Just pick a pair of red God's Favorite Shoes and be happy!

With that said, enjoy this inspiration board. This just serves as a little guide to follow as you shop or sift through countless websites and bridesmaid catalogs. I had you in mind...not completely true...I had my wedding pictures in mind. I know you all personally and I know that you all could use another LBD (little black dress) in your closet. By all means, don't spend all your duckets on your dress...you have to save that to buy us a wedding gift!

Enjoy...feel free to ask questions. Oh, a word of advice...don't even think about going to one of those cookie cutter bridal shops that have a section just for bridesmaids. I rebuke that in the name of Jesus. Think chic, cocktail, sexy and comfortable.

*** update...I found these great alternatives to the above bridesmaids dress. These are BCBG dresses from Nordstroms. I love the fact that they complement each other. LOVE LOVE LOVE...Dreams do come true:)

Amen!

Oh...MISTER, mother dear and mother n' law dear...God has a special word for you coming soon too:)

P.S....Dyeable shoes are a no no...A real shoe please! Go all the way Sex and the City with the shoes please...Just make sure it's not a shoe that I will wear, I will win that battle. Toodles!
