A few years back, I would watch that horrible show "My Sweet 16" on MTV where snotty nosed brats would get new cars for being arrogant, self-absorbed spawns of rich people. I remember watching an episode and this snotty (notice my venom) brat went to Italy to buy a shoe for her sweet 16 party. I remember being repulsed by the notion but moreso jealous because I didn't even get a Sweet 16 party. I got a chaufferred trip (by my mom) to Foley's and was allowed to buy my first and only pair of Guess Jeans...complete with the triangle symbol on the pocket.
Anywho, that's another story for another post. The point is the snotty nosed brat was able to go to a designer Italian shoe studio and have a shoe especially made just for her foot. I remember sitting with my mouth wide open because I couldn't believe the parents even wasted their energy to do something so ridiculous.
At any rate, I remember sulking for a hot second knowing that I would never have the experience. Instead, I take pride stuffing my feet into a size 8 shoe from Nordstrom's or Marshall's knowing that this is the closest to a couture designed shoe I will get.
Back to the point...I am a teacher and most days I look at the students as the greatest form of birth control a girl could have. But there are moments where I connect with my students and share a little about myself personally. One day, I remember telling my kids about this blog (I was vague in its description) and my love of shoes. Long story short, one of my students who also is a great artist ( I know this because he draws carictatures of me on the work he turns in), surprised me with a sketch for my blog. I didn't even know he was doing it.
It is so perfect for my blog and I heart it to death. The more I looked at it, I realized that this was indeed my very own designer shoe. One made especially for me! How cool is that.
So I introduce to you the official logo for this blog. I hope you get the connection. It should be pretty obvious. There is a shoe on a cloud with a halo and angel wings on the back. God's Favorite Shoes! How fitting!
Enjoy. Who knows. This could be the start of something! Think big, right?
P.S....rest assured, this kid will be passing my class:)
**I hate to do this but seeing that I don't know you (some of you:), I must state officially that "Stealing is a sin" so don't steal my picture or anything from this blog for that matter. It's simply not nice...you must credit me or ask my permission...just like my students:)
