I've Changed...Really

If you are new to this blog, then you don't know that I have an affinity for kimonos. It's my life's mission to own every kimono in the South:) I may have even threatened a blog diva or two if I see them rocking a kimono that really should be on my body. I guess I should take this time to apologize to Jane from Sea of Shoes (click here).  But I've changed. I have been rehabilitated.  I'm not like that anymore. I promise. I haven't beat anyone down in over a week for wearing something that I should be wearing. God is real people. God is real! HA HA!!
(Vintage Kimono, Goodwill Belt, Kate Spade Shoes)
I instead think I've quenched my thirst for the ultimate kimono/jacket/dress with this little vintage number! I've had it a few months now...just hadn't gotten around to wearing it. What better day to rock a kimono than on Cinco De Mayo! Can you believe it was only 6 bucks! The resale shop was trying to sell it for 60 but let's just say that I worked my jelly:)
I'll let the kimono speak for itself. Can it be anymore perfect? And it gave me a reason to wear my favorite pair of red Kate Spade shoes!
I wore this to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. I celebrated by learning about the history of Cinco De Mayo and volunteering. Okay......I had a Margarita and stuffed my face with empanadas and queso dip.  Don't judge me. I'm thinking I'm going to make this little outfit work appropriate by throwing on some black slacks or my purple pencil skirt underneath. The split is a little too "risky" for the children at the school house.
By the way, I'm feeling better than earlier this week. I'm about at 93% now!
Random note: My students are reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins...OMG, I am hooked! This book is awesome. It has me sucked in like the Twilight books but it has NOTHING to do with Vampires! I highly recommend this book for those adults that aren't ashamed to read a teen book...it's really good:)

#1) HEY REIKO!!! :)

B) How in 3 hayles did you talk them down from $60 to $6? Girl, you need to write a book!

III) I vote for the pencil skirt. I think pants would totally take away from the inherent sexiness of the dress.

Four) You are fab!! Please box up your hair and dimples and send them to Maryland. :)

LOL!

I was thinking the same thing about your dimples. Simply adorable. Love the way you mixed this with RED!!! Brilliant.

I have that book in a box someone sent me. I should dig it out. I totally need a good book to get lost in! LOVE your dress. Wow. That is so cool. And $6? You have to be kidding me! That is too fantastic!

You are completely brilliant. Every time I come over here and read your posts you have me howling. In a good way. I loooove kimono's too. I collected a whole box of them when I was living in Japan. I have an embroidered silk kimono jacket that I wear over slouchy jeans with a gorge belt, and massive earrings. When I wear it I feel totally fab!

That kimono is amazing! I especially love the flowers. I agree that a pencil skirt would be the best option under this to help keep the slink aspect. Thanks for finding me, I'm following you now!

Who takes these fab photos of you?
I was imagining Common snapping the camera...then you laughing, and you and him heading off for your volunteer work!

Love the outfit, girl. Definitely with a pencil skirt. Do not want to rain on your parade but it is not the proper way to wear a kimono. I lived in Japan for a few years and you should have the right side tucked under the left side because as this website http://www.japanesekimono.com/wear_a_kimono.htm says: Right on top of the left is only used to dress a corpse for burial. So in Japan, it is considered bad luck the way you wear it. You probably would not care but I remembered wearing a kimono like that in Japan and people around me were freaking out. Anyway, I have a kimono in black and with sakura (cherry blossom) design on the back. I never wore it always waiting for the right combination. You gave me courage. You go girl!

I LOVE IT! AND the Kate Spades, they are really trying some different things that I like. I'm a fan of the "talk down" too but from $60 to $6????? Do tell!

Love, love, love the purple and red combo.

Both the dress and the shoes are fantastic. I'm a high school teacher, and our teacher/student book club just read Hunger Games, and I LOVED IT!!! I never thought I'd be into that kind of fantasy, somewhat violent story . . . but I couldn't put it down! Can't wait to read the second one. :)

i am in love with this outfit! you rocked it! the belt is so perfect and love the red with it.

forget the pencil skirt... what you need under it is a vintage full slip! you will feel just like a movie star, i guarantee it. *and* it won't take any attention away from the kimono. no doubt you can find one at the thrift for a couple of dollars. (or feel free to shop my website of course!)
