Quality Time

So, it's the summer and my nieces and nephews are in Houston from Tulsa, Oklahoma for vacation. I hung out with two of my oldest nephews and pretty much was mocked and questioned all day.

Since they were with me, I took the opportunity to talk to them about exposing themselves to different things...like new restaraunts/traveling/ wearing things other than sneakers. Basically, I was trying to be the cool auntie....I don't think that conversation went over too well but maybe when I am dead they will remember that conversation. Here's to hoping! LOL

Conversation with Nephew 1

Nephew 1: Why are you taking pictures of your clothes all the time? Who cares? Do you get paid for this?
Me: Dude, I have people. People like to take pics of their clothes.
Nephew: Why you? Your shoes don't even match your outfit.
Me: See, if you would read my blog you would know that my shoes are a neutral color.
Nephew 1 & 2: You're weird. You have different ways of doing things
Me: *hands on my hips* That's right!
Nephew 1: Put me in one of the pictures. I'm 'swagnificient'. Your readership will be up like Oprah if you put me on there.
Me: *roll my eyes*
(I'd like to say that my tanline was on purpose in the above pic but it so wasn't. It was the result of me jogging  walking on a Saturday morning at 7am...yeah...even the morning sun is a beast in Texas!)

Conversation with Nephew 2
*as I am posting pics for this post*

Nephew 2: So, people look at pictures of your clothes?
Me: yes
Nephew 2: They are probably just fooling you. They probably look at your website and then laugh and say 'ewww, look at her.'
Me: *burst into laughter*
Nephews 2: So, you just come on here and narrate your life on your blog? (then blank stare)
Me: *hysterically laughing...but somehow starting to feel like a loser*
Nephew 3: I don't see how you do this...this is boring.
Me: *blank stare*

...and then I forced them to take pictures of me!
To beat the heat and boredom. I took them to dinner and the book store. You can only imagine the tongue lashing I got from both of them because I was looking for the new book in the Twilight Series...that was in the teen section I might add. They were brutal on me. Brutal!

So in love with this skirt!

I have nephew-in-laws, but they are all under the age of 10 so I'm still "Cool Auntie Karla"...for right now, at least.

Nobody more brutal than teens...except maybe teen girls. I've got two boys but I tell ya, when I hear my friends talk about their teen girls..I'm grateful for these boys. :)

They make fun of me too. They don't want to be on my blog. I don't listen to them. :)

Conversations with teenagers (especially of the male persuasion!)are the fastest way I know to make yourself feel like you have great big "L" sitting on your forehead.

That was funny! lol

They just don't understand.

Your nephews are funny.

I must be just as weird for following blogs where people take pics of clothing. LOL

Hahahahahahahaha....that was funny Reiko! My kids side eye me too! The little says I think I am so cool b/c I have a blog and tell him, "NO YOU think I'm cool b/c I have a blog!" He just rolls his eyes and laugh!

I am telling you, personal style blogging is something that you either get, or you don't. For the people that don't get it, no bridge will get them there! Heh.

funny story! i totally agree with Emily Kennedy!
our neighbours who catch me sometimes while taking photos of myself in the backyard, think i'm a vainly insane. those of them, i explained about having a fashionblog don't get it aswell... and no bridge will get them there. that's right.

And you just know when they go home, they are going to start a blog and do exactly the same thing they were laughing at you doing.

Yeah, they should know, their auntie rocks and has fierce style. It's not all about matching shoes and clothes. That's what makes you cool! LOL!

What do kids know?

I like to tell the teenagers in my life that they are just too young to understand and that they will get it when they are older. Boy, does THAT get them! :P

Hahaha really puts it into perspective, doesn't it? Never mind them, they're BOYS! P.S. I could not take off my pants and just wear the dress because the dress is totally see-through. Probably should have done it anyway though. :)

I freaking LOVE that skirt. Oh my word.

You really are cool. Tell your nephew that I think you are like a super star : )

And he is pretty cute too! I think your readership WILL go up with him in some pictures!

Meh I've never liked teenage boys, even when I was a teenager. Why do they like picking on people so much? Anyway, you can't expect boys to understand anything fashion blogging or hot shoes. Whatever. You look frikkin' awesome btw -that skirt!!! FIERCE!

LOVETH the one shoulder look! And it goes perfectly with the skirt...I thought it was a dress at first. What do nephews know anyways, right? Your people love you :)

You look awesome in this outit. I LOVE that skirt - it's amazing.

It's funny, some of my blogging friends have been talking about the negative reactions they get to the idea of posting outfit shots online. That and the way they feel their intelligence is judged because they like to write about clothes and shoes. I think the way your nephews responded pretty much sums up how a lot of people react: "blank stare".

We came to the conclusion that it's definitely worth it as the lovers far outweigh the haters/nonplussed in the blogging world!

As for Bree Tanner (I'm assuming) I didn't like it as much as Twilight, but was still thoroughly hooked. And I think that's largely because I'm Team Jacob, and there were no werewolves. :D
