What I Wore To The Video Release Party for "Maybe"

This is what I wore to Lee-Lonn's Video Release party!
I wanted the Boxing Kitten Look...
I heart that whole ethnic/mixing of prints aesthetic.

It would've been nice if my photographer would've noticed the exposed tag.
He's going back into "better take my pictures and let me know if I have tags hanging out of my clothes" husband training class.

This is what I wore to Lee-Lonn's "Maybe" Video Release Party.
You remember once upon a time that top used to be a dress.
You know I'm always up to tricks.
I decided it would serve me best a top and I was right...again! LOL
And yes, the infamous favorite Target skirt made it's appearance.
You didn't think I stopped wearing it, did you?
How foolish of you!

Borrowed vintage handbag from my mother-in-law

I was so anxious to see the video after so many months of waiting and it was worth it.

Of course I had to get a photo with the star of the video!

And if you missed it...here is the video. I served as the wardrobe stylist for the video:)

It's Been A Long Time!

It's been a while, hasn't it?
I have good excuses reasons but I'll save them for another time.
Let's blame it on Blogger being down for a couple of days.
What?
It's TRUE.
Blogger was down!
So that's my reason.

(Target Tank/Vintage Skirt*/Random Belt, Thrifted clutch)
The pockets on this skirt are fabulous!

My school year is winding down and wedding planning is in high gear.
I never really mention that I'm planning a wedding because I don't want to turn this into a wedding blog.
Like we need another one of those!
But I will give great highlites because you won't believe the gifted people that have come through this blog that will have a heavy influence on that day:)

I will say this...it won't be one of those "awww look at her skip on fake rose petals down the yellow brick road then watch them stuff cake in each other's face and everybody laughs because he got cake in her hair" type of events.
I don't have time for all of that foolishness and HOMIE DON'T PLAY THAT!
And my wedding shoes are leopard print for goodness sake.
I wouldn't have it any other way...but you knew that:)

It'll be lowkey but fun. Emphasis on fun.
I'll share bits and pieces after it's all said and done.

Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Yvette, owner of Belle Curve Boutique in Houston.
Chastity from The Curvy Girl's Guide to Style introduced us. (She knows everybody!)
I got to see some of the latest Spring items and I even got to play with the dolls style a few of the newer pieces!
I had great fun and the pieces are fab, affordable and I even taught Yvette that leopard print is neutral.
My work on earth is done!

Bella Curve Dress/Necklace
Belt & 2nd necklace (my own)

If you're in Houston, drop by Belle Curve and check out some of the goodies!
Yvette told me she started her boutique because she got so frustrated with the sizing of online stores and wanted to make fashion accessible to curvy women! Tell her I sent you and give her a big hug for me:)

P.S...These pictures SUCK hot boiled eggs! I'm working on getting my real camera back in operation.

*The vintage skirt I'm wearing is technically supposed to go to SFAM but I threatened encouraged Juanette to let me try it...for business purposes of course! (kinda loving it & keeping it) We are each other's personal shoppers so it's hard giving up goodies! *hangs head*

GFS in New Orleans: WWJD

I bet you think by now that I just pick up and go to New Orleans and Austin and parts of the country whenever I feel like it. Not so Grasshopper:)

I was in New Orleans for a friend's wedding. I wore this ensemble to the wedding. I had a conversation with Juanette and I told her how I wanted to "J. Crew" my look.

( I got this long sash from Goodwill. It's nice & long and wraps around my body a couple of times)

I am really obsessed with the style director guru responsible for the wonders of J. Crew.
Juanette and I now have a saying when we want to J. Crew our look...WWJD!

WWJD SHOULD stand for What Would Jesus Do.
Again, you are wrong grasshopper.
It stands for What Would JENNA (Lyons) Do?!?

(Brian the photographer for Kendi Everyday told me that night time photos aren't the best...and I agree...yet I keep trying. Fail.)
I decided that this thrifted mermaid style skirt should be accompanied with a Target Tank and J. Crew "like" jewelry. Juanette loaned me her necklace (she sells awesome jewelry) and bag.

I keep waiting for her to call me and say just keep the bag. I'm still waiting...but I'm not giving up.

I have a final New Orleans post coming up and then I get to share the photos from The Houston Blogger Meet UP...which was all kinds of AWESOME!

Just Another Day

So today went something like this...

1. Put on this thrifted shirt dress for the first time and high fived myself because its perfect!
2. Got in the car and caught a Lauren Hill mix going on!
3. On my way to an important meeting...got majorly lost.

($2 thrift dress from my Dallas trip, Target Belt, BCBG Heels, Men's F21 Cap)

4. Finally got to the meeting and realized I left an important document which means I have to go to the meeting again.
5. Fell on my butt again (I know, ridiculous! But my foot got caught in the door of my house and I couldn't break the fall.)
6. Got rained on.
7. Finally caught the Behind the Music on Usher on VH1.
Yep, that's about average for me. Can't have it all, can I?

Pop Quiz

Pop Quiz Question of the day:

There could be a number of reasons why I am jumping for sheer joy in this picture. All of the following reasons are true but tell me which one do you think is the PRIMARY reason for the elation in my face.

1. I just officially resigned from my job today because I accepted a new position that I think I'm going to love. I was overjoyed to personally hand in my resignation to one of my least favorite coworkers of all time.
2. I am just so happy to be back home from my trip to Virginia.
3. Today is my little brother's birthday.

4. I'm about to eat a piece of red velvet cake.
5. I'm actually wearing a white dress...something I rarely do. (It was 8 bucks at H&M...and it has pockets!)
6. I found a lone piece of Bubble Yum Bubble Gum in my purse today.
7. I ate from my favorite fast food spot in Houston today...Frenchy's Chicken!

8. I finally got to catch up on my True Blood episodes.
9. I got to hang out with my nieces today.
10. My "Mr." sponsored my trip to H&M in Virginia.

So which is the MOST likely reason that a 34 year old woman was willing to document jumping in the middle of the street?
NO CHEATING!!!! I don't play that in my classroom:)
By the way, you people who live even in the same state where there is an H&M, consider yourselves lucky!

Bonus Question: What do you think I said to the "least favorite coworker" when she said she was going to miss me?
A. I am going to miss you too.
B. You know what, I've been wanting to say this for a while...
C. Thank You then gave a blank stare.
D. I said nothing.

Home Sweet Home

(On Virginia Beach)
I was in Virginia most of the week...and now I'm back. Enough said. I didn't take many pictures. I did manage to get on a malfunctioning roller coaster...as in it stopped when it should have been going...at the highest point of the ride...at King's Dominion theme park...Not awesome.

(I felt like a crayola in this but I liked it alot. That skirt once was white (click here to see) until it wasn't white so much anymore and I dyed it yellow:)
(Airport Style: The objective was to be comfy on the plane. Found this cardi at H&M...Lady Ga Ga would be proud of my detailed ruffle!)

How about this...why don't YOU entertain ME by telling me about your worst vacation experience?

6/20/10

Touching Bases

Sorry for the slow up in posts:) I rarely go anywhere since I'm on vacation and I am pretty sure you don't want to see me rocking my PJ's in every post. I probably won't get around to posting often this week either because I have a business trip (when did I get old enough to say that!?)

(Nothing special about this outfit but it's all from Target...except the Sam Edelman wedges that I am officially obsessed with. I look mad in this pic but I'm not...it was just hot outside! The heat affects my smile:)

Allow me to share the highlights of my past week though:

1. I took the best NAP EVER on Thursday! It was awesome. I slept so hard that when I woke up, I thought it was the next day....literally. In real time, it was only about 4 hours but it felt like days!

2. I finally saw Blind Side with Sandra Bullock. I enjoyed it. I wish someone would adopt me...any takers? I clean up well and I do dishes:)

3. I jogged 20 minutes on Saturday! That's the longest I have ever jogged in my life! I was so surprised at myself that I kept looking at my reflection in the mirror to make sure it was me that was still standing upright. Question: Does anyone else jog to a beat? I have to jog to a beat. Meaning if a fast song comes on and I can't land my steps with the beat of the song...it throws me off. Am I the only one??!?? So far, the best jogging song for me is Hey Ya by Outkast and some other not so nice rap songs!

P.S...I'm hoping to meet a few Dallas bloggers this week, I'll keep you posted on my foolishness and shenanigans:)
