GFS Christ Chic: April Fool's Baby

I'm married to an April Fool's baby.
It makes total sense if you know him.
He turned 33 today.
And he took my outfit pics for his birthday!
Happy birthday Husband!
Can't wait...to see what I'm wearing for your birthday next year!

Dress: H&M (Thanks to Juanette until Houston opens our own H&M)
Earrings: Nappy Rutz (in Atlanta...She does trunk shows/parties!)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson (My Valentine's gift this year)
Bag: American Apparel

This is how I wore the dress last weekend to have a dessert/business meeting with Rocquelle:)

Pushing the Limits

H&M Dress
Bag: Goodwill
American Apparel Turtleneck

So far, I've worn these motorcycle boots 9 days in a row.
With dresses.
With jeans.
With pajamas.
It doesn't really matter.
They're perfectly rugged and comfortable.
No point in stopping now.

While we are on the subject of "pushing the limits"...
What's with the turtleneck under a spring/summer dress, you ask?
It's my last ditch effort to wear one of my favorite dresses before Old Man Winter decides to show up.

What?
If people can wear socks with sandals (not judging...even tried it once)...then I can wear my favorite summer/spring dress:)
If blogging has taught me anything...it's that you make your own rules.

What limits have you pushed lately...stylishly speaking?

GFS Christ Chic: Ladies Who Lunch

Vintage Dress
Hat: Zara (I WORSHIP THIS HAT)
Purse: American Apparel
Shoes: Steve Madden

Juanette hung in Houston this weekend, so we took her to church with us.
She's never done the Cupid Shuffle to a gospel blues song.
Pssh.
Where has she been?
The Holy Ghost Shuffle is all the rage.
My church originated it.

Well, maybe we didn't quite do a shuffle...THIS Sunday...but the choir did sing a song that had both of us wanting to go the juke joint afterwards.
I think somebody held up a lighter like they were at a Prince concert.
That's how you praise the Lord!
No?!?
Yes.

And just when you think I take myself too seriously...
POW!

The Unthinkable Happened

As you read this, I am either getting ready to go to my first professional football game.
(Texans vs. Cleveland Browns)
Or I'm on the way.
Or I'm already there.
Or I died there.
(Worn the night before...HM Top, Zara Skirt, Nappy Rutz Earrings, Steve Madden "Cheeeky" heels, American Apparel bag)

Apparently buying your husband tickets to see his favorite team of all time means you have to go WITH him!
What part of the game is this?
I thought I was doing something nice for him...and he repays me by making me go!?!
#gifttotallybackfiredonme
(You would think his favorite team would be the Texans because we're in Houston...no)

So, if I die at the game from under-excitement...

DO NOT BURY ME IN THESE SHOES!
They're pretty but they'll pinch my baby toe in the casket for that long.
Don't send me into eternity in pain.
Oh...and don't forget to pile on the bangles.
I wouldn't be caught DEAD without my bangles/bracelets!

Go Texans.
Go Browns!
*shrugs*

GFS Christ Chic:Manners

Here's another installment of Christ Chic.
(For the new GFS readers...that just means an outfit post on what I wore to church)
I had to set an example to someone in church today.
A lady was sitting next to me in church with an "active" 3 year oldish kid.
He was a terror.
Which is fine...I'm not judging.
She gave him some Cinnamon Toast Crunch from a baggie as a snack.
Which again is fine...because sometimes I sneak Honey Nut Cheerios in for my own snack:)
But he didn't eat it.
He threw it on the floor.

Mind you that this was the first Sunday in our brand NEW building.
Pretty, shiny floors and all.
I waited and waited for her to pick up the cereal.
I thought maybe she was waiting for the choir to finish singing.
Nope.
Oh...she must be waiting for the sermon to be over.
Nah.

Surely she is waiting for the church announcements to be made.
No.
Oh...what is that sound?
That's the sound of her kid CRUNCHING the cereal on the brand new floors with his feet.
And what's all of that over the brand new church seats?
CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH...CRUMBLED!

So now, I'm distracted.

Why won't she pick up the cereal?
I sat there for almost two hours side eyeing the mother...not the kid. The kid doesn't know any better.
The mother does.
She doesn't.
By the time the pastor said his final prayer, I already made the decision that I'm going to pick up the cereal as soon as church as over.
IN FRONT OF HER.

So I did.
What do you think she did?
Right.
She leans over and starts to help as I am hand sweeping the crumbs with my church program.
She said, "Oh thank you but I was going to wait til church was over to get the ushers to grab a broom to get it."

Ummm hmm lady.
Umm hmmm.

Lucky Star

How ironic that I heard "Lucky Star" by Madonna today?
Did I ever mention how much I was into Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Janet Jackson back in the day?
(My Janet Jackson allegiance is well documented)

Borderline.
Lucky Star.
She-Bop.
Time after Time.
Let's Wait a While.
When I Think of You... (I actually reenacted the video to this one earlier today...I still got it!)
Umm hmm. That's me all day:)

Forgive Me

I promise this is the last time I'm posting me with this skirt! This actually is an outfit from last week. I just saved the post for a rainy day when I had nothing to say but low and behold...my camera is out of commission.
I won't be able to post for a few days...but let this be a lesson in how many ways you can rock stripes.

This is what you wear when your air conditioner goes out in your house and you have to go to the Mr.'s place for a few days. You remix what you already have over there.

Which isn't always that bad when you are remixing some of your favorite pieces...

And sometimes there is a warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie the size of a pancake waiting on the stove for you.

Not the worst way to suffer, I suppose:)

Target Tank/Skirt
Paris Hilton Heels
Thrifted vest (from Rufus...he he he)
TIKKR Watch c/o TIKKR
Random chain necklaces
Shades c/o Wanted
Long Heart Necklace c/o Love Maegan

Last time I'm POSTING this skirt...not the last time I'm wearing it.

And when I say last time I'm posting this skirt...I mean the last time this month....okay next month too.

Update: Air Conditon is now fixed but camera is now broken. #fail

GFS in New Orleans: Bye Bye N'awlins

This is what I wore my last morning in New Orleans and the 6 hour ride back home. I found this silk-what I assume to be an Indian garment but probably is a pajama gown- at the thrift shop. I heart it so. It's perfectly comfortable and an alterative to jeans and t shirt.

Tunic/sash/scarf: Thrift Shop
American Apparel leggings/clutch
Pour La Victoire Sandals

On our way out, we stopped by the Camellia Grille for breakfast.

I take breakfast seriously. I can eat breakfast any time of the day. This quite possibly could be the best breakfast I've ever eaten...in my life.

Bye New Orleans!

GFS in New Orleans: Santa Fe Chic

Can you believe I thrifted this skirt? It was actually a two piece and I got it for the top. I was really digging the ethnic print of it all. Then for some reason unknown to me, I decided to try on the skirt and slide it up!

VOILA! It's a dress! A dress I love the most!  The print has a Santa Fe vibe to it, don't you think?

I threw on my wedges and a belt and walked the streets of New Orleans. New Orleans is a blogger's dream for beautiful backdrops for pictures. I couldn't get enough of the brick buildings and random spottings of grafitti.

Thanks to The Minister of Style's suggestion we made it to Mother's Cafe where the line was crazy long! I felt just like a tourist taking pics of people while they were working!

Next New Orleans Post coming soon...
