Channeling the 40's

As I was getting dressed to go to a wedding, I was told that I was dressed like I was from the 40's.
When will the husband learn that I take that as a compliment!?!?

In retrospect, I should've worn a belt to give the look a little more shape but at the time I was feeling the sleekness of no belt.
I plan on getting a lot of wear out of this skirt, so you'll see it again:)
Probably sooner than later...

Skirt worn as a dress: Anthropologie
Vintage clutch
Heels: Steve Madden
Tux Jacket: Thrifted by Juanette
Necklace: Borrowed from Juanette

Juanette and I will be in Austin this weekend at the Texas Style Council Conference.
Tweet me if you'll be there!

Go Hard or Go Home

If you're going to wear a daishiki, might as well rock the fro in all its glory.
No?

Looking like a member of Funkadelic wasn't planned but sometimes you just go with the flow.

Daishiki: Thrift Store
Blazigan (A blazer that feels like a cardigan....I just made that up!) Anthropologie (old)
Shoes: Steve Madden Sarrina
Clutch...that's actually a pillow case. I just threw another clutch in it for it to be sturdy

Beware, The Plain Janes of the World

If you are conservative, you are going to hate this outfit. I happen to love it! It is one of those "I feel the most me" type of outfits.

From the old school snakeskin glasses from the thrift shop for 49 cents...

...to the DOUBLE Leopard. Umm hmmm. Leopard sweater AND shoes.
(Just so you know, in my house...leopard print is a neutral. Those are my house rules.)

I've worn this dress a trillion times on this blog and I've never thought to wear this until today.

You would think that I felt ridiculous. 80's glasses...not matching. But I didn't. I felt kind of conservative.
Lately, I've really been into mixing prints. I crave it. I need it. Gotta have it!

Like I said, I felt the most ME.

JCP leopard cardi (I've had in my closet since September)
Anthropologie Dress
Random Belt
Sam Edelman Heels
"Reiko Red" clutch c/o DIY RAVEN
Thrifted Vintage Snakeskin glasses (these make me want to sing "Poison" by BBD)

You really should get one of these custom bags by Raven!

P.S...Happy Cinco De Mayo! This is my Cinco De Mayo dance!

Busy Bee

(Banana Republic Tuxedo shirt, Anthropologie Dress, Kate Spade Shoes, Thrifted Scarf)

Today, I kinda felt important. I had places to go and people meet...which is rare if you know me in real life. I have a friend, let's call her the Puerto Rican princess (she makes me call her that:), who ALWAYS has somewhere to go! Always. I call her a soccer mom although she has no bambinos but she's always running here and there. Me...not so much. Work, home, grocery store, mail box...yeah...then work again.
Today, I...

1. Went to church
2. Cooked a kick a$$ Chicken Parmesan
3. Took the best nap that almost made me miss #4!
4. Met a reader of my blog who turned out to be the Don King of Ideas! She was so inspirational and motivating, I walked out of the Dessert Gallery singing the Reading Rainbow song "I Cannnn Do Anythiiiing...Take a look, it's in a book...Reading Rainbow!" (I went too far with the song but I know you remember that show!)
Thank you Ashley...I programmed your number in my cell so that means I'm no longer a friend in just your head!)
5. Celebrated my homie's bday with Sushi and Cake! Happy bday Arianne!
6. Hung out with my bestie/dude!
7. Accomplished a new scarf updo:)
8. Found a new way to wear this old dress.

(I was trying to show how I tied the scarf to do an updo..you can't really tell though)

This is what I wore to church. It's a tulip style dress I copped from H&M this summer.
Jessica Simpson Shoes/ Thrifted Blazer

This look from Style Sample is what inspired my retro look today. Click here:)
Juanette from Fashionnette-work reminded me to shop in my own closet! Thanks!
How did I do?

TGIF

(Pour La Victoire Sandals found here...although I got mine 60% cheaper at Marshall's)

Sorry for the delayed post. I actually wore both of these outfits last week but just never got around to posting. I wore some really cute outfits this week but to be honest...I just couldn't muster the energy to take pics. It's such an ordeal because I have a digital camera (that I'm grateful for) but only takes one pic at a time with the self timer. Imagine me taking a picture...smile...click...then running back to the camera for the next shot. It gets exhausting:) This was not one of my favorite weeks. I am glad this week is over. Period. The. End.

(You've seen me wear this dress here and here. It's one of my faves from H&M from a few  years ago. I actually altered the neckline. It was orignially a crew neck but the "girls" needed some air so I made it into a square neck)
I saw this Kate Spade Dress on the Neiman Marcus site and thought to myself..."Self, you have a  floral, frilly dress...wear it!"

(Did I mention that I'm on another self imposed shopping ban?? Yep. First of all, I'm poor so that should really be the reason. But the real reason is I'm supposed to go to Virginia in July and low and behold they have 2 H&M's in the area. Since, we don't have them in Texas...that's always a treat. Plus, it'll be my own little reward for losing how ever much weight I lose by then...so yeah...no clothes shopping. Let the Games Begin!
(I've had this top from Anthropologie for a year or so. I actually forgot I had it. I am really into the rolled cargo pant look so for some reason I threw this together. I don't particularly like the proportions of this outfit together but I'm a school teacher...who's judging me but me? I must say that I am in love with this belt from Target. It has no buckle. It's basically a beaded rubber band)

Question of the Day: What sorts of things would you do if you could be as outgoing and uninhibited as you wished?

*By the way, my self imposed shopping ban does not mean that people can't buy stuff for me. Just wanted to be clear on that in case anybody was feeling sorry for me.*

I Love Gifts!

(One of my all time favorite dresses...Zachary Smile dress from Anthropologie. And yes, the belt is back. I can't stop wearing it with everything!)
I won my first blog give away from my Bloggy Godmother Mish from Mish DISH! It was a goodie bag from the Aspen Fashion Show. All kinds of stuff in it...moisturizers, gift certificates, makeup...good stuff! But MISH threw in a treat for me! A necklace from her own personal Jewelry Line!!!!
I love this necklace so much! It's perfect! I can loop it for it days! Thank you Bloggy Godmother (I totally forced that title upon her!) Now let's work on getting the rest of your wardrobe to me!!
By the way...this dress has history on this blog. There was a whole lot of chaos and confusion from the designers about me and this dress. It's a must read! Click here for the first post that resulted in the designers of the dress contacting me...click here for the follow up:)

...and seriously Mish...I love the necklace...and I love my little personal note you sent me! I'm saving it:)

Pesky Strangers

(I've had that little clutch purse for so many years, I have no idea where I got it)
I'm not going to lie...I kinda felt cute in this today. I love this top with all thine heart and all thine soul. Especially the ruffled details in the back. Also, note that I am not wearing one stitch of black today. That's rare yet totally unintentional.

(I feel like I'm on the verge of finally breaking these shoes in. Just a few more wears and I will have conquered the pain)

I look like I really am going somewhere, don't I? Ummm...yeah, I went home and ate a huge bowl of Chex Cereal and watched Parenthood (That' my new favorite show)

You've got to be rolling your eyes at all these pictures! LOL...I am! I would like to state for the record that bloggers who take pictures of themselves with a tripod and set timer, in front of total strangers deserve some type of award. I'm just saying:)

I was driving and saw this little park with very few people in it. in  There were a few dog walkers and a few old ladies speed walking in their inclined flip flops sneakers. I had a few people look at me crazy but I decided to flip the script and look at them crazy. Instead of being embarrassed (which I was), whenever a dog walker passed by looking befuddled...I just kind of looked back at them as if THEY  were the ones in violation! The nerve of THEM to walk in a park where supermodels  teachers posing as bloggers  take pictures of their shoes in a public park! Ugh... regular people amuse me (lol)
For those of you who didn't catch it, I gigged over at the Shop It To Me website. Check it out:)

If a crystal ball would tell you the TRUTH about any ONE thing you wished to know concerning yourself, life, the future, or anything else, what would you want to know?
